10 Cancelled Sci-Fi/Fantasy Series That Deserved Better
4. Pushing Daisies
A quirky, charming show about death and murder, Pushing Daisies was a fairytale-like series about a pie-maker who can reanimate the dead by touching them, who gets involved in some murder mysteries while also living with the reanimated love of his life without touching her.
In the show, Ned The Piemaker resurrects the murdered Chuck, his childhood crush and love interest, but must never touch her again to prevent her from dying permanently. The two of them try to solve her murder and others, alongside Private Investigator Emerson Chod, who uses Ned's gifts to solve crimes and splitting the reward money with him (while also searching for his daughter, who was taken by his con-woman ex, through self-published pop-up books), and waitress Olive Snook, who helps around the shop, often helps on cases, and has a crush on Ned.
The show has the bold colours and fantastic visuals showrunner Bryan Fuller has become known for (with other legendary show Hannibal getting the same unfortunate early axe), the cutesy quirk never getting in the way of darker, more serious moments.
Fans still wish it'd be rebooted today, the original multi-award winning show cancelled much too early.
