One of the more intriguing Clone Wars arcs that never saw the light of day was an Ahsoka-centric story about the secret depths beneath the Jedi Temple. Creator George Lucas and Dave Filoni had discussions about how the planet Coruscant is built vertically and how the different levels were an interesting concept, something already explored in previous episodes.

They also discussed how many churches are built upon older religious sites including ancient pagan places of worship. This is how the idea came about that the Jedi Temple found on Coruscant was likely built upon the ancient ruins of other Force religions.

The story would have followed Ahsoka deep beneath the Jedi Temple, where she discovered an ancient Sith Temple guarded by creepy, giant skeletal creatures. She would encounter Darth Sidious, who was attempting to break into a Holocron vault and eventually manages to stop him by sealing the door.

The Sith Temple is briefly mentioned in the canon book, Tarkin, so the idea was reused in some form. This arc sounded fascinating and would have further explored both the Jedi and Sith religions in way that hadn't been done before.

If I'm not talking about films, I'm watching them.
