1. Tron: Uprising

If theres one thing that animated series can do, its making something out of nothing, like Godzilla: The Series. Tron: Uprising is a definite example of that. While the Tron franchise has managed to carve out a place in the publics consciousness due to its aesthetic and Daft Punks soundtrack from Legacy, the Tron universe itself and the stories told in it never felt all that compelling. Despite being a prequel to Legacy, Uprising manages to turn the weaknesses of the films world, characters, and story into its strengths. It takes a story about two programs Beck and Tron trying to start a resistance movement against Clu, Legacys villain, and manages to create a cast of characters that are all likable in some way, inhabiting a universe that you want to see more of. Uprising tells a fairly simple story but it does it well, and in so doing, makes you want to see more. With only 19 episodes (one 30 minute pilot and eighteen 22 minute episodes), Tron: Upising is probably the shortest on this list. But it is the most deserving, not only because of its superb quality and surprising maturity for a Disney production, but because of the fact that it never really had a chance to succeed on TV. Consigned to the premium package Disney XD channel and repeatedly moved through several timeslots with little to no warning, Uprising simply couldnt gain any momentum on a channel dominated by Disneys live action fare, even though its pilot was seen by about 1.25 million people when it aired on Disney Channel. While its unlikely the show will continue (the only reason theres a bit of hope is the fact that Tron 3 was greenlit recently), it would be a shame if a show this good was left with only a barebones iTunes and Amazon digital release.
