10 Celebrities Better Known By Their Alter-Egos

7. Chris Sievey (Frank Sidebottom)

sieveysidebottom Chris Sievey (R.I.P) was the man behind cult comedy legend Frank Sidebottom - the budding music star from Timperley, instantly recognisable by his large spherical head, styled like an early Max Fleischer cartoon (initially made from papier mache, but later out of fibreglass) and more often than not accompanied by 'Little Frank'; his tiny duplicate. Sievey himself was an accomplished musician and comedian known for fronting the band The Freshies in the late 1970s and early 1980s - it wasn't until around 1984 that the Frank Sidebottom persona took precedent in his show-business career and became more well-known than Chris himself. Sadly, in 2010, he died at the age of 54 after a battle with cancer. Having interviewed Chris (as Frank) in my work on another website, I can confirm what a lovely guy he was.
