10 Comic Book Characters Who Deserve Their Own TV Shows

7. The X-Men

With seven films (and counting) under its belt and over $1.8 billion at the box office, the X-Men film franchise is doing rather well for itself. The first film, directed by Bryan Singer in 2000, is credited as the beginning of the modern age of superhero cinema. There have also been a handful of successful animated television shows throughout the years. Since their debut in 1963, the X-Men have enjoyed a highly varied (and extremely successful) run of stories. The use of mutants as an allegory for social and civil rights issues have made the X-Men stand out amongst other comic book properties and will help the show remain relevant and stand the test of time. The X-Men are also a perfect fit for television, and the fact that they exist in such a rich, wide open universe ensures countless opportunities for spinoffs, concurrent franchises, and adaptations in other forms of media. It's easy to see how Fox could devote some mutants to the films, while exploring others in a television show. There have also been so many different versions and variations on the teams that the studio would have a plethora of characters (and time periods) to choose from.
