10 Comic Book Characters Who Deserve Their Own TV Shows

5. The Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense

A full on Hellboy television series would probably be a bit tricky to produce, so why not focus on the organisation that hires him, the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense (B.P.R.D)? Dedicated to protecting the world from the occult, paranormal, and anything marginally unworldly; the organization hires several supernatural beings to carry out its missions, along with the use of human agents. Featured within the pages of Mike Mignola's Hellboy graphic novels, as well as two films directed by Guillermo Del Toro, B.P.R.D. could make for a fun, interesting TV series if given the chance. The universe Mignola has created for Hellboy has a lot of depth and areas ripe for exploration. The series wouldn't even have to feature Hellboy. Instead, they could showcase a group of new characters that exist in the same universe as the film franchise, referencing the movies but taking its own path and telling its own stories. The show could take cues from other supernatural/paranormal programs like The X-Files, Fringe, and Supernatural. Del Toro has expressed an interest in producing television shows before, and since he's directed the two Hellboy films, he would be the perfect person to act as executive producer and perhaps even direct the pilot episode. Maybe Ron Perlman could don the red makeup and horns and make a cameo appearance or two.
