10 Comic Book Characters Who Were Better On TV Than In Movies

8. Cyborg

Ghost Rider Agents of SHIELD
DC Universe

Like the aforementioned Flash, the DCEU's version of Victor Stone, aka Cyborg, hasn't really been given much to do as of yet.

Credit where it's due, actor Ray Fisher did a solid job with the material he was given when playing the character in 2017's Justice League (and hearing him drop a "booyah" on the big screen was a nice bit of fanservice for those who grew up with the Teen Titans animated series.) Still, that doesn't change the fact that Cyborg felt more like a plot device than a fully-realized character.

On the other side of the coin, Joivan Wade's Cyborg from the DC Universe original series Doom Patrol is everything the character of Vic Stone should be. His personality takes its cues from writer Marv Wolfman's New Teen Titans comic books, striking the perfect balance between a tortured individual struggling with his own humanity, and a fun-loving jock who still knows how to have a good time.

What's more, Wade's Cyborg has genuine agency as a character, and has actually been afforded a reasonable amount of time to grow, develop and find his place in the story. On that note, while Vic initially seemed like a strange choice for Doom Patrol, it's now apparent that he's right at home among DC's resident Island of Misfit Toys.

Basically, if you're a fan of the Teen Titans cartoon who was a bit let down by Justice League's more downbeat, New 52-inspired take on Cyborg, Doom Patrol's is most likely the version you've been waiting for.
