10 Community Cameos You Probably Missed

Like Mitch Hurwitz, Vince Gilligan created a beloved TV show. However, Arrested Development and Gilligan's creation, Breaking Bad, could not be more different. While Arrested Development is a comedy, Breaking Bad is a gritty drama following Walter White, a brilliant chemist who, in his final days, turns to cooking meth to provide for his family after being diagnosed with terminal cancer.

Gilligan cameos in Community Season 5's VCR Maintenance and Educational Publishing as Devon, an actor who appears in Pile of Bullets, Abed's wild west themed VCR game. Though he seems like a fun cameo from Gilligan, Devon gets a comedic scene of his own, as the episode ends with Devon's accepting that role, and features another fun yet easy to miss cameo.

In that final scene, a flashback set in the nineties, Devon tells his wife, played by Gina Gershon, a talented actress known for her work in Killer Joe and Face/Off, that he was cast in Pile of Bullets. This astonishes Gershon's character, as she believes (incorrectly) that VCR is the way of the future. It's hilarious and heartbreaking to watch Gershon's character and Devon believe their life will go in an entirely new direction, with the duo becoming so confident that Pile of Bullets will become a success that Devon quits his job at a startup company called Apple.
