10 Completely Insulting TV Plot Twists
2. The Dumpster - The Walking Dead
When people think of "insulting twists" and "The Walking Dead," it's natural to think of the end of Season 6, in which the build-up to the identity of Negan's victim is paid off with a cut to first person and six more months of waiting. However, that was less of a twist, and more of a direct kick to the testicles.
No, The Walking Dead's most insulting twist came earlier that same season, with the shocking supposed death of long time character Glenn Rhee.
After Glenn and his rival Nicholas find themselves surrounded by a massive herd of zombies, the latter shoots himself in the head, sending both tumbling into a sea of walkers to be chowed down upon. And that was that.
The writers really went all out with this one, even removing Steven Yeun from the opening credits. For viewers, this was a show that always subverted expectations. Just a few years prior, main character Lori Grimes was killed off in a random episode way before she died in the comics, so there was even precedent.
Then, several episodes later, it's revealed Glenn survived by... crawling under a dumpster and using Nicholas's body as cover.
Seriously? What was the point of all this? To make Glenn a less obvious candidate for Negan's bat?
Death fake-outs do NOT belong on The Walking Dead. Keep that soap opera crap on daytime television where it belongs.
