8. The Kevin Spacey Scandal
It's alarming just how many famous people think that their fame can shield them when they commit despicable acts. In recent years a lot of these have started to come to light after being buried, sometimes for decades.
On October 30th 2017, Anthony Rapp made allegations that Spacey had been on top of him, trying to seduce him, when he was only 14. While Spacey cynically used these allegations as a springboard to come out of the closet (as if that excuses his actions), more people came forward with stories of him exposing himself and otherwise sexually assaulting them.
At the time, one of Netflix's biggest shows was House Of Cards, starring Kevin Spacey and the sixth season was quite far into production. Taking one look at the situation and saying "No thanks.", Netflix announced that the sixth season would be the last of the show and they'd be re-editing it to include Spacey as little as possible.
While the Rapp allegations were the first to see the light of day, it was already an open secret in certain circles that Spacey was sexually aggressive in his advances. And, as fast as they distanced themselves from Spacey, it's doubtful that this was the first Netflix heard about this.
