3. Walking Dead Argument Ends In A Shooting

The Walking Dead has provoked an incredible amount of discussion, and brought the zombie apocalypse genre back to the fore, with fans no doubt sparing a thought towards how they would fare in a world of walkers, and where they would head to in case of such an emergency. But some people take things to unbelievable new levels, with one man shooting his girlfriend after she disagreed with his theory that something as simple as a government mishap could easily result in mankind being plagued by a similar condition to those in the show. Jared Gurman heatedly argued his case to his girlfriend, who went home soon afterwards. The pair continued to argue via text messages, before she drove back to his house late on to check on him, and that's when he fired at her. She survived the ordeal, but Gurman was jailed for over three years. Of course it wasn't the show's fault, but its name was heavily tied into the case, causing a headache for the network.
