Multiple versions of Amy Pond: what could possibly go wrong?

Well, as proved by The Girl Who Waited and the conclusion of The Almost People, quite a lot, but several months before those episodes aired, writer Steven Moffat gave the Scottish firecracker a much more light-hearted doppelgänger story in the form of Time - a two-part minisode produced for Comic Relief 2011.

When the clumsy, yet lovable Rory Pond inadvertently causes the Eleventh Doctor's TARDIS to materialise inside itself, a loop is created wherein our three main heroes bump into future versions of themselves - versions that are only seconds ahead.

Amy starts flirting with her counterpart, Rory is just confused by the whole thing, and the Doctor, naturally, uses his future self's knowledge to help him solve the problem, learning that "the wibbly lever!" will revert things back to normal.

As well as being truly bonkers, Time might be the most fun loop the show has ever delivered. This being a charity special and all, the intent was simply to have a laugh, and it's hard not to smile as our characters react to such a baffling situation.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
