10 Craziest Fan Theories About The Walking Dead

8. Rick Is An Immortal Zombie

This theory first sprang forth from talk of how on earth Rick Grimes was able to survive in a comatose state in an abandoned hospital for so long, despite a lack of anyone around to change his IV bag etc.

Well maybe, just maybe, that’s because Rick is already a zombie but not a zombie as we quite know it. Given that Rick was in a coma and therefore had significantly decreased brain activity, this made him semi-immune to the zombie virus. He’s still infected with the virus but his previously comatose state meant that it never fully developed, meaning that he can technically die and reanimate but never becomes fully zombified.

The theory goes a long way to explain why Rick not only survived his coma, but that near-fatal beating he endured from the Governor during the fall of the prison and why Rick got so chomp-happy on Joe’s jugular vein when his fellow Claimers were attempting to do ungodly thing to Carl.

On a bittersweet note, this theory means that Rick is destined to walk the barren, undead infested earth presumably alone once all his family and friends die annihilating walkers until there are no walkers left to annihilate. Effectively, Rick Grimes is immortal.
