10 Crazy Breaking Bad Fan Theories That Completely Change The Show

4. Gus Was Gay

The Theory: Gus was one of the most mysterious and dangerous people that Walt ever came across. Gus was cunning and ruthless until the end. Where did this come from? In a pivotal flashback scene, Gus and his partner Max are meeting with the cartel to convince them to include their meth in future cartel dealings. Very quickly, Hector shoots Max in the head, and throws Gus on the ground next to him. The look between the two as Max dies has been suggested to indicate that the two had a much closer relationship than business associates. Was It Possible: Who knows? Gus has a family (never seen or named on screen) in Albuquerque that would indicate that his relationship with Max was platonic. Also, Gus put Max through school, which would suggest that Gus had a paternal relationship with him (not dissimilar to Walt and Jesse). That being said, Vince Gilligan has stated that their relationship is open to interpretation and will not commit to an answer either way. As such, the true nature of their relationship will forever remain intentionally ambiguous.
