10 Creepy TV Characters You ACTUALLY Root For

9. Jared Dunn (Silicon Valley)

You Want Him To Do It
HBO

Silicon Valley's Jared Dunn might be the most socially-awkward human being in the history of human beings. Not because he's overly shy, and doesn't attempt to create any conversation; rather, it's because he doesn't appear to have a verbal filter.

From telling a couple of parents that he has an app that can track their young baby (which he justifies by saying "most missing children are never found"), to the extremely dark and depressing ways he can turn a phrase, the creepiest thing about Jared is that he doesn't seem to know just how uncomfortable he makes people.

Imagine you're out having a drink with someone, and they start telling a story about a time they murdered a rabbit. Somehow, they find that story hilarious, but you're just sat there feeling horrified and uneasy. That's kind of what it's like being around Jared.

At the same time though, his oddness also makes him seem really sweet and naive, like a confused and bewildered child stuck in the body of a 30-year-old man, who's trying to process all those grown-up thoughts. Combine this with hints at a tragic backstory, and you have a character who, yes, is very weird, but who also seems like he's just trying his best to please everyone around him. And that's damn endearing.
