If there were ever two siblings that were entirely co-dependent, it would be these two. Neither is really all that jazzed about living without the other one, and they sort of don't know what to do if they don't have each other. A huge part of this has to do with the way they were raised. When Dean was four and Sam was a baby, their father put Sam in Dean's arms and told him to carry him out of a burning building, and that's really indicative of their entire relationship. Dean has been conditioned over the years to take care of his little brother at all costs, even if it means sacrificing himself, or if Sam doesn't want to be saved. Of course, teaching your kids to take care of one another isn't necessarily a bad thing -- except when your older child believes that it's their only reason for living, and that they are a useless failure if they can't protect their sibling from every evil in the world. (For more information, look in the Encyclopedia Brittanica under Wincester, Dean.) Also, not for nothing, but have you guys seen all the nods to "Wincest" that have been on the show?
