5. The Seventh Doctor's Solo - The Happiness Patrol

It's like Rose Tyler always says, 'Give a man an open mike...' Sadly, that's exactly what the director does for the Seventh Doctor in The Happiness Patrol - which, you must grant, has several other cringey moments of its own - leading to McCoy giving us his rendition of As Time Goes By. Or it's the Doctor's rendition. Actually, we don't know, and we don't care. It's a moment that makes many of us wince every time, and not just because McCoy does it so over the top. Or maybe it's the fact that he does it at all - we've noticed that genre TV fans get stroppy if their favourite shows get musical, unless it's Buffy, of course. Now, if he were to get up there and tell some funny jokes about something falling from the sky, that would be worth seeing. Hey, wait...
