10 Current TV Comedies That Prove This Is A Golden Era

1. The Office (US)

Tumblr Mumj8zdmbg1rgo7kvo1 500 Gif After the success of The Office (UK) which finished in 2003, the Americans decided they would have a go at recreating the hit British T.V show. Yet unlike a few failed attempts at recreating other British shows (Skins, Shameless, need I go on?) it actually worked and ran from 2005 until May this year. In a similar vein to the UK version, The Office follows the workers of Dunder Mifflin Paper Company in a documentary-style format. Most of the characters in the main cast are based off the UK show but their personalities have been altered slightly in order to fulfil the American demographic. It's this key decision that's let it endure, instead of shows like Skins which mirrored the UK version of the show scene for scene. Many of the actors are renowned for their comedic talents, and the show has only increased their popularity, lifting them to bigger things. This comedy show has done exceedingly well for itself and its cast has been declared as one of the best on television by many critics. And, if it's awkward comedy you want, this is the one for you.
