10 Current TV Dramas That Show This Is A Golden Era

10. Sherlock

When Sherlock finally returned to our screens in the new year, after a two year hiatus, fans of the super-sleuth jumped for joy. Two years ago, enthusiasts were left on the edge of their seats, wracking their brains to figure out how our favourite high-functioning sociopath managed to fake his own death and spend two years in hiding from best friend and mystery-solving partner, Doctor John Watson. When Mark Gatiss' take on the famous literary character hit our screens in 2010, no one could have predicted its success, especially considering that at present there are only nine episodes and hopefully not another two years before the next three are released. However, thanks to both Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman's acting prowess, along with flawless writing and nail-biting mystery, it comes as no surprise that the show has won a number of BAFTAs. The show has gained such momentum over the past few years that its fanbase is one of the most well known in regard to internet presence or vice-versa, and it may be thanks to the Sherlockians that the show is doing so well. For those who have been keeping up with the show, that ending to the final episode of the third series will have us speculating right up until the new episodes appear yet again. These takes on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's stories has us on tenterhooks at every moment, even during the hiatuses, making it a current drama which just can't be missed. It turns out the winning formula for a flawless show is a cast of sociopaths, some very unusual murders and our favourite landlady, Mrs Hudson.
