10 Damaging Life-Lessons The Simpsons Taught Us

9. Denial Is Healthy

Marge€™s love for her family can never be questioned. Where Homer works full time to keep food on the table, Marge is always there for basic housework, emotional support, and every now and then gets a job of her own to pay the bills. How does she do it? How can she raise an infant like Maggie, nurture an under-appreciated genius like Lisa, control a hyperactive borderline future sociopath like Bart, all while providing the necessary love and support that her man-child husband so desperately needs? Well the answer is actually quite worrying. Marge sees the best in her family, as she sees the best in everybody. But she chooses only to see the best in them, while completely ignoring their obvious flaws. So strong is her faith in the inner beauty and natural goodness in everyone that she simply forgets that her husband is a danger to himself and others, forgets that Bart is wildly out of control and even forgets the fact that Maggie will eventually grow up and become independent. Homer often gets criticised for his blissful ignorance, yet Marge lives in constant denial. It€™s inspiring of course that she can bring out the best in such a dysfunctional family, yet unnerving that she chooses to just ignore their many problems.

As a wrestling fan I've flown across the Atlantic for the last five years specifically to attend WrestleMania (28 and 30) as well as TNA, ROH, Evolve, Chikara and most recently PWG. I may have a problem! But if you're reading my work then you probably love wrestling too, so lets focus on that!
