10 Damaging Life-Lessons The Simpsons Taught Us

8. Secretly Filming Couples In Cars Is Okay

In the Season Six episode €œHomer Badman€ Homer finds himself falsely accused of sexual harassment. The public refuses to believe his claim to innocence, that he was just grabbing the gummy Venus de Milo sweet off of the girls backside (what€™s so hard to believe?) and Homer is depicted on TV as a maniacal sexual predator. The episode itself is a reflection on the medias prioritising entertainment-value over the facts, but the lesson at the end of the episode is rather sinister. Homer is eventually found innocent when Groundskeeper Willie reveals that he likes to secretly videotape couples in cars because €œEvery single Scottish person does it!€ (that's racist) and happened to catch Homer€™s misunderstanding on film. Homer is found innocent and everything is back to normal. As for Willie? He faces no charges, nor accusations for his invasion of privacy. He becomes the star of a documentary on Rock Bottom, where he is presented as evil, yet presumably suffers no real consequences off camera. Marge even says everything works out as long as everyone is videotaping everyone else. So in Springfield, sexual harassment is bad, but secretly videotaping sexual harassment is apparently not a big deal.

As a wrestling fan I've flown across the Atlantic for the last five years specifically to attend WrestleMania (28 and 30) as well as TNA, ROH, Evolve, Chikara and most recently PWG. I may have a problem! But if you're reading my work then you probably love wrestling too, so lets focus on that!
