10 Damaging Life-Lessons The Simpsons Taught Us

4. The Law Means Nothing If You're Smart Enough

Widely considered to be one of the greatest Simpsons episodes of all time, €œHomer vs the 18th Amendment€ is a classic on all levels. Homers role as the Beer Baron who supplies Springfield with alcohol during the resurrection of Prohibition is one of his most daring and ingenious adventures ever. Rex Banner is one of the shows greatest one off characters and of course Homer€™s iconic quote at the end is perhaps the most legendary phrase in the series run: €œTo alcohol! The cause of, and solution to, all of life€™s problems!€ However it is very unnerving that when Homer is discovered by Marge, he is instantly forgiven because his scheme is clever. Yes apparently it€™s okay to pick and choose which laws to follow, as long as you€™re smart about it. Marge allows Homer to continue his illegal activities, until he eventually runs out of booze and turns himself in to help restore poor Wiggum€™s career. Which brings me to point two. Rex Banner may have been aggressive and almost tyrannical in his crusade to bring down Homer, but he was technically the good guy. An honest cop, upholding the law, refusing bribes and generally being the best chief of police Springfield ever had, was presented as the villain! And what happened at the end of the episode? Chief Wiggum sort of murders him. In public. With a freaking catapult!

As a wrestling fan I've flown across the Atlantic for the last five years specifically to attend WrestleMania (28 and 30) as well as TNA, ROH, Evolve, Chikara and most recently PWG. I may have a problem! But if you're reading my work then you probably love wrestling too, so lets focus on that!
