10 Darkest Rick And Morty Moments

6. Froopyland

At the start of the season three's The ABC's of Beth, she reveals that her childhood best friend, Tommy, was killed and eaten by his father, who is finally set to be executed. As if this wasn't dark enough ten seconds into the episode, it gets a lot worse. With a dad like Rick Sanchez, Beth was bound to have a damaging childhood, but this is ridiculous.

It turns out that Froopyland, the universe Beth though was imaginary, was a perfectly real creation by Rick for his daughter, and Tommy is still alive and well inside. Though the magical world was designed to be harmless, life uh... found a way, as the lost boy survived by having sex with Froopyland creatures, and eating the offspring. Naturally, this caused a ripple effect that resulted in some terrifying creatures, and Tommy being worshiped as a God.

There are many phrases in Rick and Morty that take a second or two to comprehend, but cannibalistic incest has to be at the top of the list.

Not only was his father about to be executed for a crime he didn't commit, it was Beth who pushed Tommy into the honey river, trapping him in Froopyland forever. Beth ultimately killed the real Tommy, and had Rick create a clone to bring his father to justice. A story like this simply highlights how similar Beth is to her father.
