10 DC Universe Fates Worse Than Death

1. Trapped In Granny Goodness' Orphanage

It's hard to say who in the New Gods of Apokolips to fear most. Everyone there definitely has one hell of a resume to their names. But Darkseid will just kill you and be done with it unless he specifically needs you alive. The last thing anyone in the DC universe wants is to be detained at Granny Goodness' pleasure. For Granny is rarely that pleased.

If you've found yourself having pissed off the right hand woman of the cosmic embodiment of evil, then you'll more than likely be taken to Granny's orphanage. This is where she takes her prisoners/test subjects and proceeds to subject them to every manner of cruelty imaginable for the sick thrill of seeing someone struggle to cling to life. It is the unholy embodiment of cruelty and sadism.

If you're unconvinced, just ask poor poor Scott Free - Mister Miracle - who grew up there since he was an infant. Tom King's legendary run on the series was especially good at showing just how lasting the physical and mental trauma from that place can be.

If your only other option is to be sent to Granny's orphanage, do yourself the best favor you'll ever get, and throw yourself into one of Apokolips' many fire pits. She can't torture a pile of ashes, after all.
