10 Deadliest Alien Prisons In Doctor Who

8. The God Complex

Appearing in the self-titled 2011 episode, this holographic prison ship was intended for one inmate - an alien Minotaur. In order to feed the Minotaur, the prison ship teleported in subjects from all over the universe so it could feast on their faith.

The ship's glitching holographic shell became stuck, causing the prison to resemble the Overlook Hotel from The Shining and providing an added layer of creep-factor to how energy was drained from its victims. Subjecting them to their worst fears holographically displayed within the bedrooms of the ever-changing, inescapable hotel, this prison ship became a living nightmare for everyone involved.

Included within the rooms were terrifying clowns, Weeping Angels, ventriloquist dummies, a gorilla, and many more strange and sinister terrors. When the Eleventh Doctor, Amy and Rory were transported to the prison, even they battled their greatest fears. Contained within the Doctor's room was the mysterious 'crack in time' which had haunted his adventures.

With the TARDIS suddenly missing and the doors bricked up, the Doctor decided to investigate the creepy hotel's twisting corridors whilst the Minotaur slowly hunted down its residents.

Finally trapping the Minotaur, the Doctor used Amy's faith in him to defeat it. Convincing her that her faith in him was misplaced, the Minotaur and the hologram system broke down. With its feeding source cut off, the Minotaur-prisoner died and the labrynth's hotel-like facade faded away.
