10 Doctor Who Background Events You Might Have Missed

4. Ryan Sinclair: Puppet King (Arachnids In The UK)

The Chris Chibnall era handles exposition with all the grace of a tap-dancing Abzorbaloff, and Arachnids In The UK is no exception.

Seemingly as uninterested in this clunky, spider-centric plot as the rest of us, companion Ryan Sinclair took it upon himself to liven things up with some goofy background antics during one particular scene.

When Jade McIntyre and the Thirteenth Doctor are trying to work out what those pesky giant spiders are after, Ryan - blurred out and way in the background - can be seen messing around to pass the time, using a nearby projector to produce shadow puppets with his hands.

It's a neat moment that actually makes Ryan feel like an ordinary kid caught up in the Doctor's crazy world, because, let's be honest, who hasn't tried to make shadow puppets when stood near a powerful light source?

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
