10 Doctor Who Bloopers You Need To See

6. K9 On The Lash

Doctor Who The Idiot's Lantern Rose blooper
BBC Studios

Though not technically a blooper in the same vein as the others on this list, this clip is too glorious not to share.

Included as an extra on the DVD release of The Armageddon Factor, this moment - reportedly a part of the BBC's 1978 Christmas tape White Powder Christmas - features the Fourth Doctor and Romana sat on the floor of the TARDIS getting rather close and drinking gin... before offering some to K9.

Witnessing the robot dog chugging booze through his "straw" and singing a squiffy rendition of We Wish You A Merry Christmas has never been on any Whovian's bingo card, but nonetheless, it's a sight to behold.

Tom Baker then goes on to ask K9 what he wants for Christmas, to which John Leeson responds:

"Enough ball bearings to last the series through, and fewer sill irons on the floors of the planets we visit."

This was clearly a comment on the many mishaps that the K9 prop suffered during filming, and it amused Baker greatly, who started to chuckle.

Whatever is actually going on here, it seems as though everyone was having tons of fun - including the crew, who can be heard laughing just out of shot.

Sometimes you hear my voice, sometimes you see my face and sometimes you read my words! But I’m usually away with the faeries and timelords! ?‍♀️

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
