10 Doctor Who Characters Who Came Back From The Dead

6. Strax (The Battle Of Demon's Run: Two Days Later)

Okay, now this is a strange one. The hilariously blunt Strax was first introduced in Series 6's A Good Man Goes To War, where he died during a scrap with the Headless Monks. And he's quite alright with that too, considering that it's an honour for a Sontaran to perish in battle.

But then, in the mini-episode The Battle of Demon's Run: Two Days Later, Strax's death was reversed. Here, his friend Jenny revives him, adding that the blow that "killed" him wasn't even fatal, and that he actually just fainted instead.

However, this simply isn't true. For starters, Jenny wasn't even with Strax when he was struck down in A Good Man Goes To War: it's actually Rory who watches over him as he draws his last breath. Consequently, Jenny would have no idea if the shot that hit Strax was fatal or not, and furthermore, Rory is a trained medical professional - so he can probably tell if someone is dead or alive.

Plus, in The Snowmen, the Doctor says that Strax "gave his life" during the battle with the Monks, and that he was then brought back. So, Strax definitely died, and he was definitely resurrected... but then Jenny lied and told him he only fainted. What a bully.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
