10 Doctor Who Characters Who Came Back From The Dead

9. Captain Jack Harkness (Ever Since Bad Wolf/The Parting of the Ways)

Another character who will be returning in Big Finish audios, Jack has probably been one of the most resurrected characters in NuWho. He has died and returned countless times to date, but at least there’s an explanation for his unusual abilities.

At the end of Bad Wolf/The Parting of the Ways, he was killed by the Daleks. But when he was brought back by Rose Tyler/Bad Wolf as she repaired the time streams and destroyed the Daleks, something happened to him. He became a “fixed point in time” and was unable to die... at least for any given amount of time.

This supposed immortality has been as much a blessing as a curse to Jack. More than once he has been killed over and over again, and even been buried alive for centuries, dying and then resurrecting over and over again. At one point, it seemed that his encounter with a being known as Abaddon might have killed him, but he was merely taking extra time to resurrect having expended so much energy. He became briefly mortal during the events of Miracle Day when everyone else found themselves unable to die, but returned to his previous state when the mysterious creature known as the Blessing was finally destroyed. It was a very long day.
