10 Doctor Who Characters You Completely Changed Your Mind About

10. Adam Mitchell

Also known as The Companion Who Wasn't. Do fans hate Adam Mitchell so much because of what happened, or was he always just that annoying? Introduced in Series 1 as a self-confessed genius (he once managed to hack into the United States Department of Defense at the tender age of 8 which is impressive, apparently...), Adam was working for the contemptuous billionaire Henry van Statten when he first encountered the Ninth Doctor and Rose Tyler. Things happened (most notably, a Dalek attack) and there was stuff and shenanigans - beautiful word, 'shenanigans' - and it wasn't long - like, at all - before Rose was inviting Adam to step aboard the TARDIS full time, much to the Doctor's obvious dismay. It's probably worth pointing out that Rose had seemingly forgotten all about Mickey by this point and wanted to get up, close and personal with this bloke from Corrie instead. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense to us, either. Thankfully, Adam's short but sweet stint as a bonafide time traveller was over before it had truly began (hurrah!) when he attempted to send information from the year 200,000 back to the present day. It was a rookie mistake which the Doctor responded to by dumping him back on Earth with the addition of an infospike in his brain. That's what you get for being cocky, Adam. Good riddance!
