10 Doctor Who Couples That Created Unrealistic Expectations About Relationships

4. Clara Oswald And Danny Pink

This could've been so good. The most recent series of Doctor Who heralded the start of a beautiful new relationship between Clara Oswald and her fellow Coal Hill School colleague Danny Pink but, like all beautiful relationships (at least, the Doctor Who ones!), their time together was over before it had truly begun when Danny ended up being hit by a car and upgraded into a Cyberman before sacrificing himself in order to save the entire world. Talk about a rough day! But oh, it was fun while it lasted, wasn't it? And not only because of the sheer hilarity that ensued as Clara spent the formative months of their relationship completely lying to him about what she was doing between their sporadic dates. Our impossible girl thought she had it all under control by juggling her time between the two most important men in her life but she eventually discovered that sometimes - nay, always - you just can't have the best of both worlds. Life's a bitch like that. The story of Clara and Danny not only created an unrealistic expectation of relationships because, well... he literally died to save her, but it was also truly heartwarming to see how he reacted to discovering that his other half had been secretly leading a double life as a time traveller with a 2,000 year old alien. Most men would've been peeved off about a revelation such as this, but Danny realised how important it was to Clara and was just happy to see that she was making the most of the opportunities that came her way. It's a real shame, then, then he had to go and die at the end of the series. He was exactly the sort of man that Clara needed to keep her grounded and level headed which, naturally, meant that he just had to go.
