10 Doctor Who Details You Definitely Missed The First Time

6. Where It All Began (The Day Of The Doctor)

Turning once again to The Day of the Doctor, and this episode features a cameo that absolutely nobody expected to see: Captain Jack's vortex manipulator.

The activation code for the manipulator is supplied by the Eleventh Doctor from the distant past, who scratches it into a wall in the Tower of London in 1562. The code is 1716231163, which you would safely assume is a meaningless string of numbers.

But come on, do you really think we'd get halfway through the list and leave you with some meaningless numbers? Don't be a pudding brain!

The final six numbers (231163) are actually a date. 23 November 1963 - the day that the first ever episode of Doctor Who aired. As for 1716, that translates to 16 minutes past five, the time of that first episode's airing.

It's such a quick detail and you wouldn't notice it unless you were looking, but it's easily one of the best nods in the episode.

Moffat, you sly dog.
