10 Doctor Who Details You Definitely Missed The First Time
5. Once Upon A Time (Let’s Kill Hitler)
As a follow-up to the earth-shattering revelation that River Song was Amy and Rory's daughter, Let's Kill Hitler was... yeah, it was ok.
A bit all over the place, a bit overstuffed, but yeah, it was solid.
A running plot throughout the episode is River's attempted assassination of the Doctor. At one point, it looks like she succeeds via some poisonous lipstick, as the Doctor eventually succumbs to her attack and "dies" on some stairs.
Scattered around his body are pages from a musical score. It's not just any musical score though - as spotted by an impressively attentive Reddit user, it's from an opera called Es war einmal by Austrian composer Alexander von Zemlinsky.
The opera is about a Princess whose heart is won by a Prince after he disguises himself as a commoner. You could argue that this reflects the story of River and the Doctor, as the Time Lord eventually wins over his future wife by revealing his more vulnerable side. "Es war einmal" even translates to "Once upon a time". Doesn't get more Doctor Who than that!
Can you hear that? That's the sound of whoever planted this detail yelling "Yes! Someone finally found it!"
