10. The New Earth Hospital Almost Got The Show In Trouble

For their first proper adventure together, the Tenth Doctor and Rose Tyler jetted off to the far-flung future, and a planet called New Earth.

It's Earth... but new. Get it?

The action kicks off with a visit to a mega hospital, before our heroes have to stop a bunch of highly-infected patients from turning everyone in the building into living petri dishes.

In real life, the show itself got into a bit of a tangle too, as the episode was slapped with a legal challenge before it hit the air.

According to showrunner Russell T Davies, the exterior design of the New Earth hospital ran afoul of the "billowing sail" hotel in Dubai. The hospital's similar appearance attracted the attention of the Dubai hotel's lawyers, who got in touch to check if the show had breached copyright.

Obviously, it didn't, and funnily enough, Dubai is so futuristic these days that it almost looks like New Earth itself.
