10 Doctor Who Guest Stars Who Came Back In Bigger Roles

10. Jimmy Vee

Kickstarting the countdown of Doctor Who guest actors who returned to the series in a bigger role is a man who is no stranger to the weird and wonderful aliens that the titular Time Lord has encountered... most probably because he's played a fair few of them himself! Back in Series 1 Jimmy Vee was feeling blue (da ba dee) at The End of the World when he guest starred as the Moxx of Balhoon, a solicitor and one of the intergalactic guests onboard Platform One, who had been invited to watch Earth's destruction. Balhoon met a rather sticky end in this episode when he was killed by the heat of the sun's expansion but he was also the first character who got to reference 2005's overriding story arc - he can just about be heard mentioning the 'Bad Wolf scenario' in passing during a conversation with the Face of Boe - so that's pretty cool. As such, the Moxx definitely left his stamp on the series despite the fact his appearance was short but sweet, though luckily for Jimmy it was to be only the start of his timey-wimey liaisons. With appearances as the Space Pig in Aliens of London and the Graske in a 2005 interactive Red Button mini-episode (a role he would later reprise in The End of Time and for various episodes of The Sarah Jane Adventures) now under his belt, Jimmy returned to light up - and quite literally, too - our Christmas Day in 2008 when he painted the town red as Bannakaffalatta, a member of the Zocci race, in Voyage of the Damned. This was a much more substantial role for Jimmy as his character was given an interesting backstory when it was revealed that he was ashamed of the fact that he'd been converted into a cyborg. He even got engaged to Kylie Minogue's character so that's another thing Jimmy can check off his to do list. Not too shabby for a guy who's only 112 cm tall. You may not have realised it but Jimmy's most recent appearance was in last year's episode The Caretaker in which he appeared as Earth destroyer Skovox Blitzer.
