Lovely old Tom Baker played the Fourth Doctor for seven years, so he was bound to have done something weird in that time.

In The Creature from the Pit, the Doctor and Romana visit the planet Chloris, where metal is an extremely rare commodity. At one point the Doctor ends up in the pit himself, where a supposedly evil, hungry creature is lurking. It basically looks like a giant green blob with long, cylindrical tentacles.

You can probably tell where this is going.

Once he discovers the creature is harmless, the Doctor attempts to communicate with it by (sigh) putting one of its tentacles in his mouth. He just pops it right in there, and yes, it looks as grotesquely hilarious as you're imagining.

The creation of this monster prop was highly problematic. It wasn't ready in time for rehearsals, and its phallic appearance reportedly prompted laughter in the studio when it was wheeled out.

Though efforts were made to fix the problem, quite how nobody raised concerns well before filming began is anyone's guess. Still, at least we got some funny imagery out of it.
