We’ve all done silly things that we immediately regret. A lot of people will drink far too much alcohol and wake up in someone else’s bed having done something unspeakable the night before. This is exactly what happened to Leela, only without the alcohol.

She had heard tell of the legend that was Zapp Brannigan, mainly thanks to his heroics saving the Octillian System from a horde of rampaging killbots. When she, Fry, and Bender actually met the guy however, he couldn’t have been further from his reputation.

It didn’t take long to realise Zapp was a sleazeball, who appeared to have failed his way up the DOOP ladder, and cared about little else other than having sex and his own valour uniform. Leela rejected his advances at first, but when he played the wounded, puppy dog eye routine, she fell for it and gave him exactly what he wanted.

From this day, Zapp never let her forget what she had done. He brought it up on vacations, in courtrooms, and just about every other time they met. He never left her alone, and seemed to think that because she fell for it once, he would always be able to charm her into his bed again.
