9. Oberyn's Arrogance During The Trial By Combat
Oberyn Martel made an impact on Thrones' fourth season as the charismatic and vengeful Prince of Dorne, who hated the Lannisters. After a season of toying with everyone in the capital, Oberyn made a choice to defend Tyrion in his Trial by Combat which allowed him to face off against his sister's killer Gregor Clegane.
Oberyn had waited years for this moment and was sadly over confident in his approach. He made the decision not to wear a helmet during his duel and taunt the crowd as he showed off against the much slower Clegane.
After Oberyn seemingly has the upper hand, Oberyn decides not to finish off Clegane but to attempt to force a confession out of him for what he did to his sister Elia and if Tywin Lannister instructed him to do so.
Oberyn wastes too much time in the end, as Gregor lulls him in and catches him off-guard, crushing his head into a pulp on the ground.
He should have killed Clegane when he had the chance.
