When Mary Winchester was returned to the show in Season 13 fans were more than excited to see the Winchester’s mother in action, however, she quickly became one of the most hated characters on the show. It’s understandable to need time to adjust after being dead for almost 40 years, but for Mary to up and leave her sons who have been missing her for decades and then decide to work for the British Men of Letters instead felt like a huge slap in the face.

Not only did Mary willingly work for the British Men of Letters after knowing how they tortured and tried to kill her youngest son Sam, but she was quickly manipulated into becoming the perfect weapon for them to get rid of American hunters. Her decision to join almost led to the death of Castiel after a hunt gone wrong at a demon's den when the brothers and Castiel, along with their friend Wally (who unfortunately was killed in the hunt), join Mary thinking it’s an average hunt but she was really there to steal The Colt from the demon, using everyone else as distractions.

For as good and as strong of a hunter Mary was said to be, she was easily manipulated and brainwashed by the British Men of Letters to wipe out many hunters and friends she met along the way.
