10 Dumbest Things In Star Trek: Picard
2. Kestra?!
Season three isn't plain sailing for any of the returning TNG cast. Whether your son is intrinsically linked to the Borg, your daughter gets assimilated, there's certainly a strong family element in there from the start.
Which means it doesn't stand up to much scrutiny that Riker and Troi seem to have absolutely no concern for what has happened to Kestra when they are both trapped aboard the Shrike.
In an earlier flashback, we do see Deanna with their son, Thad. While he was the elder of the Riker offspring, there is no mention of her at this point, but it does leave the audience wondering where she is. Kestra was a significant character in the first season's Nepenthe, acting as a surrogate sister to Soji and reinforcing the point that the Rikers have very much moved on from their time in service.
As a side point, it has been noted that a line of dialogue from season three's Surrender would have actually closed this hole completely by revealing Kestra was safe and sound at Starfleet Academy and therefore not left wandering the woods of Nepenthe speaking Viveen to the trees.
Incredible to think that one sentence could have removed such a glaring problem.
