10 Dumbest Villain Plans In TV Shows

8. Seducing Someone’s Grandma - Ronin (Star Trek: The Next Generation)

The season 7 episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation entitled Sub Rosa is infamous amongst fans of the show.

The episode revolves around the grandmother of Dr. Beverly Crusher, who has recently passed away. Whilst attending the funeral, Beverly discovers that her grandma was in a romantic relationship with a much younger man.

What a fox!

Sadly not, as this guy is actually a weird, green, ghost alien named Ronin who was using Beverly's grandma for... reasons? To keep himself alive? Because he was bored? It's not clear.

Now that his geriatric squeeze has passed on, Ronin is out for a new human to play with. He seduces Dr. Crusher by manipulating her mind, convincing her to stay with him on the planet until he is eventually defeated.

This whole episode is just weird. Ronin had mileage as a character, but he never got the proper motivation to stand up as a villain. Was he after Beverly specifically? If so, then why go through her aged grandmother to get to her?

The whole thing makes very little sense, and Sub Rosa remains one of the most hated episodes in Star Trek history.
