10 Episodes That Prove 30 Rock Is The Greatest Sitcom Ever Made
8. Episode 210 (Season 2, Episode 10)
This episode was one of the last episode before the 2007-2008 Writers Strike, and was, for a short time, actually expected to be the last ever episode. As a result, it ties up a lot of the plotlines that had been running through the season, such as Jack's relationship with C.C. and Liz's decision to invest in her future by buying real estate. Kenneth develops a caffeine addiction, causing him to decide to leave New York and return to Georgia, which obviously upsets Tracy, his quasi-best friend, who does everything in his power to make him stay. Meanwhile, Jack is trying to negotiate a deal to buy a German television network, and Liz is trying to buy a condo in a snooty building. In terms of 30 Rock this is probably one of the most normal episodes of its run and it's pretty typical in terms of sitcom plot. However, it works with the material very well and we progress a lot in the space of 20 minutes - Jack breaks up with C.C., Tracy realises he has to let Kenneth go and do his own thing, and Jenna shows some development too. It does, however, in true 30 Rock style, undo a lot of this in the form of a song - "Midnight Train to Georgia", with changed lyrics where Kenneth tells us he missed the train because it was actually at 11:45 and he was misinformed about the time. It even has a Gladys Knight cameo! Joke Of The Episode:Kenneth: "I don't drink coffee, sir, I don't drink hot liquids of any kind. That's the devil's temperature."
