10 Episodes That Prove 30 Rock Is The Greatest Sitcom Ever Made
3. Tracy Does Conan (Season 1, Episode 7)
This is the first brilliant episode of 30 Rock. It's the first of what we would grow to love, it's crazy, funny and surreal, and it's just brilliant. The plot revolves around Tracy being booked on Conan's show (after much deliberation, due to Tracy trying to stab Conan during his last appearance) to promote his new film. However, Tracy's off his meds and his new one's provided by Dr. Spaceman are causing him to hallucinate a little blue man following him everywhere. So this episode we have a few new things introduced, best of all everyone's favourite character, Dr Leo Spaceman, played brilliantly by Chris Parnell. His questionable morals and strange medical endorsements are gut-rippingly funny, and we would grow to know him as the show's best loved recurring character. Conan's appearance is also great and we get a hint of a possible bad romance between Liz and him in the past, which would later be expanded on. He's funny in the talk show scenes as well as in the scenes at TGS, and it gives Conan the chance to show off his acting skills, playing slightly against type as an aloof version of himself. There's quite a bit of development in this episode. We see that Liz is trying to break up with Dennis, but in the end we see she'd rather just be comfortable than change anything about her life, as it's too much stress for her and she fears she will never find someone else to share her life with. Joke Of The Episode:Liz: "Why are you wearing a tux?" Jack: "It's after six. What am I, a farmer?"
