Mexican telenova Mi Marido Tiene Familia made history during its second season when it introduced the world to the phenomenon that is 'Aristemo'. Though it wasn't the first time that one of Univision's telenovas featured a same-sex couple, the relationship between Aristóteles Córcega and Cuauhtémoc López was the first significant portrayal of a teenage gay couple, and it used that opportunity to make a statement.

Témo's love for Ari ultimately instilled him with the confidence to come out to his father, but it also initiated a journey of self-discovery for Ari, who realised that he felt the same way about his best friend. They would then allow that love to continually educate their family members, sparking discussions among them and ultimately changing hearts and minds, reminding viewers that, yes, love is love.

A touching portrayal of young love at its finest, Aristemo went down so well with viewers that it became a global phenomenon, with the show winning a GLAAD Award and Ari and Témo being crowned E!'s Top TV Couple of 2019. In addition to these incredible accolades, the pair just made even more history as they became the first ever gay couple to lead a telenova, starring in their own spin-off - the title of which, El Corazón Nunca Se Equivoca, stems from a sentiment they constantly said to each other (which translates as "The Heart Is Never Wrong").

A show-stealing couple if there was ever one, Ari and Témo proved that the heart is indeed never wrong - and long may they continue to do so.
