10 Excellent Cartoon Reboots That Surprised Fans

8. Mickey Mouse (2013)

Voltron Legendary Defender
Disney

A series that released its first episode on YouTube in 2013, this version of Mickey Mouse and his friends has fantastic animation reminiscent of the oldest style Mickey was animated in, while infused with the bright, bold line work and colourful patterns only modern animation could achieve.

It has the simple yet timeless slapstick humour of early cartoons, and has been ongoing for five years and still going strong, with a fifth season on its way. It seems to have the staying power the original kicked off, and embraces the utter ridiculousness of its premise and characters in the best way possible.

Preceding this series were many other incarnations of Mickey Mouse and his friends, the best of which was the Disney's House of Mouse series which ran in the early 2000's, presenting Disney shorts both old and new in faux nightclub format, with Mickey Mouse playing host to multiple Disney characters under the IP coming together to enjoy their shorts.

Mickey Mouse is timeless for a reason, and the 2013 series epitomises that, with a show so slick and stylish that it's worth watching for the animation alone.
