10 Excellent Cartoon Reboots That Surprised Fans

7. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2003, 2012)

Though the newer CG title may beat out its 2D animated contender by a small margin, the two are almost equals in quality, with the 2003 version bringing action-packed episodes with stunning animation and excellent storytelling and the 2012 version improving on an already successful formula.

Both series took what was an inherently silly premise and injected the right amount of enjoyment and heart, action and suspense, and intriguing episodic storytelling to keep kids coming back for more.

Both series had fast-paced, action-packed theme songs that were perfect for the saturday morning kids cartoons they were, the 2003 version going for something more rock with synth mixed in and the 2012 one going for an equally fitting rap telling the Turtles' origins in the minute-long intro.

Though originally a much more adult comic parodying Daredevil, the Turtles seem to thrive as icons of kids' entertainment, with their martial arts skills, their brotherly dynamic, their friendship with April and Casey, their enmity with The Foot, and an impressive rogues gallery of their own, making for exciting cartoon fare.

With another reboot currently airing, it's a surprise to nobody by now why the TMNT have a version for every generation.
