1. Damien Molony
In terms of industry cred, Damien Molony is still a rookie. In fact, before his performance in Being Human, he hadn't clocked in any time on a major production -- the only other credits on his resume were a couple of video shorts and a National Theatre Live performance. So it's majorly impressive that his fantastic portrayal of Hal is essentially his debut. It isn't easy to come into a popular show and replace its beloved characters. Many men before him have tried and failed. But he brings such depth to the purposefully repressed character of Hal (and his malevolent alter ego), that it's almost impossible not to be drawn to him. Sure, he isn't Mitchell -- but that doesn't necessarily have to be a bad thing. Since then, he's gone on to appear on Ripper Street (which tragically got the axe this year, why God why?), and will be starring in a new cop drama on Channel 5. While to my cynical eyes, it seems like it will be a pretty by-the-books procedural, I'm confident that Molony has what it takes to elevate the material into something special. And star as the 13th Doctor in about four years. No, but seriously, that needs to happen.
