10 Failed Comic Book TV Projects That Would Be Awesome Now

9. Power Pack (1991)

A TV show starring super powered brats from a cancelled 80's comic book sounds like the least appealing pitch ever made, but Power Pack has far more potential than this would suggest. All of the most popular superhero programs are currently aimed at adults, but let's not forget that comic books were originally aimed at children and this is a market that still deserves strong material.

The premise of Power Pack is appealing in its simplicity. Four young siblings receive super powers from a dying alien, attempting to utilise their abilities for good and without adult supervision. As the first preteen superhero group, Power Pack explored unique issues as each of the four children tried to balance childhood and puberty with the responsibility of super heroics.

After the comics initial run was cancelled, NBC developed a pilot episode of Power Pack as part of their Saturday morning lineup, but the shows cheesiness didn't resonate with audiences and a full season order was never picked up. However, 90's kids raised on The Secret World of Alex Mack can attest that a show dealing with super powered kids can definitely work if handled right.

As the trend for comic book shows continues to delve further into adult territory, it's important to cater to children too with more wholesome programming that doesn't talk down to its audience.
