10 Fantasy Series That Could Be The Next Game Of Thrones

7. The New Crobuzon Series

Kingkiller Chronicles
Pan

This one is a bit different as it is not a series telling one story from beginning to end. Instead, this is an entire world. The name of it is Bas-Lag, a world on which most of the acclaimed writer China MiƩville's stories are set. In this world, magic and steampunk technology exist hand-in-hand.

In this world, there are many continents, worlds, myths, and races. There were entities that existed before the world, and who have left fallen artifacts of great power around the Earth. There's a dark ocean, with a city at the bottom of the sea, with creatures that live there.

Hell itself has an embassy in this world. There are dark beings with power beyond knowing. There are beings that fly, there's human cacti, there are creatures made of fire, parasytes, scarab beetles that can talk - it is a fantasy stew and it works wonderfully.

Unlike Game of Thrones, which was locked into telling a single certain story in this world, telling a tale here, using the vast city-state of New Crobuzon as the basis, a brand-new world - one as powerful and interesting as Westeros, but more explored - could be developed.
