This series is the most unlike Game of Thrones, but in that way may be exactly what is needed. Here, there are no knights in armor, no destinies. It is set in a supercontinent. Here, there is a fifth season of cataclysm that comes every so often and it has arrived - much like Winter.
This series deals with people of a lower caste as the world itself breaks down and dies. Instead of telling the tale of who shall end up on an Iron Throne, this would tell of nothing but the struggle of people to fight and die on a cold stone that will not honor or remember their passing.
It is a story that would be darker than Game of Thrones, but is still filled with magic, intrigue, love, and drama.
The next Game of Thrones could very well be this amazing fantasy novel, that is almost nothing like Game of Thrones, except that it too is amazing.
